Summer Nights at the Daum presents: SpoFest

July 27, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Daum at Night

As part of Summer Nights at the Daum, Daum Museum of Contemporary Art presents SpoFest, an evening of spoken word and music from area-based poets, writers, and musicians. Join us at the museum on Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 6 p.m., for an eclectic mix of readings by eight mid-Missouri writers with a musical interlude by Tony Shaffer. Writers include Faith Bemiss, Doug Kiburz, Rose Marie Kinder, Connie Koch, Maggie McMichael, Lela Merrell, Debbie Noland, and Dave Wisker.

SpoFest is a Sedalia, MO, based nonprofit organization that promotes the writing and public sharing of poetry and prose. Since 2011, SpoFest has provided multiple and varied reading venues throughout the year. The heart of any SpoFest event is the reading of original pieces by local and occasional guest poets. Spoken word genres include poetry, prose, haiku, short stories, anecdotes, and essays.

This is the third of four special events assembled under the heading Summer Nights at the Daum, presented at the museum on the fourth Thursday of May through August. Special extended hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; events begin at 6 p.m., and are free to the public. The last Summer Night will be held on Thursday, August 24, and will feature StoneLion Puppet Theatre’s production of The Wind in the Willows.
