Tuesday, April 5, 2005 Annaul State Fair Community College Student Exhibition SFCC art students to exhibit works SEDALIA—State Fair Community College art students will exhibit their work in the annual student art exhibit April 14 through May 8 in the Goddard Gallery in the Stauffacher Center for the Fine Arts on campus. The gallery is under the direction of the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art. Art instructor Paul Allen said the show will feature the best works of about 60 students, each of whom will show from one to three pieces selected from a year’s worth of production. Many of the art works will be for sale. Annie Helmericks-Louder, a professional artist and adjunct instructor at Central Missouri State University, will jury the show. Ms. Helmericks-Louder exhibits nationally and internationally and was featured in the Missouri 50 Exhibition at the Missouri State Fair in 2002 and 2003. Her art uses fabric, paintings, drawings and poetry as mediums of expression. SFCC will award $150 to the first-place winner, and will add the winning piece to the art department’s permanent collection. Pieces from the collection are on display throughout campus. A photo of the winning artwork also will be used on the invitation to next year’s student exhibit. The second-place winner will receive $125 and the third-place winner will receive $100. The juror also will give several honorable mention awards. An awards ceremony and reception are planned at 7 p.m. April 14. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is closed Mondays.
