Summertime Blues: Selections from the Collection

June 19 - August 23, 2018 Admission

Blue . . . the color of harmony, spirituality, infinity, and sadness. Artists have used blue since the time of the Egyptians, when it was derived from minerals at great expense and difficulty. It is the favorite color of the half the people questioned in an international survey. In this permanent collection review, the color blue unites an array of artworks—paintings, ceramics, and prints—and highlights the emotional power and suggestive character of this protean hue.
