Contemporary Visions of the West

August 12 - December 20, 2026 Admission
The American West occupies a complex place in the cultural imagination, shaped by frontier narratives, industry, migration, land use, resilience, and mythmaking. Contemporary Visions of the West brings together artists from across the United States whose work reclaims and reimagines Western identities and landscapes beyond nostalgia and stereotype.
Through a contemporary lens, the exhibition explores how ideas of the West intersect with questions of place, labor, environment, power, belonging, and lived experience. Selected through a national juried process, the works on view invite visitors to consider the evolving realities of the American West and the diverse voices that continue to shape its story.
This exhibition was partly sponsored by Douglas and Connie Kiburz and created in partnership with the National Cattle Trails Conference.
