Kara Walker: Harper’s Pictorial History of the Civil War (Annotated)

Kara Walker creates challenging artwork that confronts the legacy of slavery in American culture. Since the late 1990s, she has been creating satirically subversive renditions of the pre-Civil-War South that challenge viewers to wrestle with lingering racial and gender stereotypes, caricatures, and myths. Contingent Structures: Recent Ceramics by Brandon Reese

Oklahoma-based artist Brandon Reese will exhibit a selection of new ceramic sculptures that well illustrate the artist’s decade-long exploration of monumental, open-worked forms. His ceramics refer to human-made, archetypal constructions: towers, shelters, and circular enclosures, among them. Reese works mostly with salt-fired stoneware, minimally colored.
