This exhibition considers growth and decay as interdependent forces within a cyclical continuum. Decay, often regarded as an endpoint, is instead a generative process through which matter is transformed rather than extinguished. Organic life decomposes, metals corrode, and materials undergo transformation, underscoring the fundamental condition of existence.

Arthur González’s Sprout exemplifies this principle by staging renewal through the proliferation of mold and mushrooms, which are agents that return matter to the earth and make possible new beginnings. Gretchen Scharnagl’s Eight Crow Reliquaries reframes the remnants of natural decay as objects of preservation and contemplation, embedding animal bones within reliquary forms that invite reverence rather than aversion. Together, these works highlight decay as a site of endurance and adaptation, where the boundaries between ending and beginning collapse into ongoing transformation.
