Matt Rahner: Fair Pictures

As artist-in-residence at the 2017 Missouri State Fair, photographer Matt Rahner turned his lens not on the prize-winning livestock, baked good, or homegrown produce, but on a bumper-crop of fair attendees. Rahner states, “I am constantly seeking out found situations that possess an inherent psychological complexity.” Here he has compiled a series of candid portraits that encourages speculation, conversation, and recognition.
