2019 Annual Student Show First Place - Brionna Hill, "Tomboy"

The annual Student Exhibition, a State Fair Community College tradition dating back to the late 1960s, is open to all students currently taking studio art classes at the college. Interested student-artists collaborate with art department faculty to select work that best represents them. This year, the exhibition will also accommodate a selection of artwork made during the pandemic, dating from spring semester 2020. A purchase award, cash awards, and honorable mentions will be designated to highlight entries of special merit.

  Unsettled/Settled is a group exhibition by RE: Generation, a collective of nine Kansas City-area artists. The coterie developed organically as a loose-knit group drawn together by common history and generational and gender experiences. Although these artists work in a wide range of media, content, styles, and techniques, RE: Generation nourishes a collegial spirit that supports and challenges individual studio practices through cross-fertilization and dialogue. Dialogues with Mother Earth: Drawing to Save the Planet is an installation by artist Erica Daborn that provokes reflections on the relationship between 21st century societal values and the ways in which they have contributed to the degradation of our environment.
